Only One On The Pier
With Latte in Hand, at 7 AM
I joyously drove to Our Bench
Even though the weather was rain and overcast.
Weather is an obstacle at times.
Wind and storm also have jostled
the Creativity of David and Carol’s family
But it is hanging in there.
Unfortunately unnatural things
Are creeping on to the end of the Pier.
The good news is they have no effect on
Another Morning

Great Addition to Our Bench
Besides the wonder of the whole creative unit,
The little piece that hangs in the middle is a wonder.
The rest of the creative driftwood doesn’t move
But the little center piece continues to twist in the wind.
It just demands my attention.
You all have just added to what always was
a wonderful place to be
Any Morning
On The Pier

On The Pier-Before Sunrise
This was a first-On The Pier before Sunrise.
The Police just beat me to it.
They open the gate at 6 AM
and I was shortly right behind them.

And another From Our Bench

Doug Enjoys Our Bench
Doug and I had Dunkin Donuts coffee
On Our Bench This morning.
He was very good at feeding the Seagulls
and pointing out the creative work of local artists
( I couldn’t figure how to turn picture around!)
A Pleasure to have a family representative with me
To mutually enjoy the love of your gift:

On The Pier
And Yet It Is Like No Other

Picture Speaks for itself About The Pier

Regardless Of Rain
Regardless of rain and inability to sit on Our Bench,
my Car immediately heads for the Pier and overcomes all obstacles.
Being with you all first thing in the morning
Is a loving privilege.

A Cold Morning-A Renee Special
Stopped at Our Bench
On the way to Mass
Just long enough
To take a Renee special
But had to stop on way out
Just long enough to acknowledge
Some one’s creative side.
Our Bench is a wonderful addiction
Thank you for

My First Latte On Newly Finished Bench
Great Late afternoon
On Our NEW Bench
The view was beautiful
The company was plentiful

Driftwood Most Dramatic
This morning’s initial view seemed dreary-
total fog overhead
But when I focused,
the driftwood grabbed my attention.
The high tide covered everything
except one rock, with a single seagull upon it.
But the highlight in the middle of the overhead
was scattered pieces of driftwood.
I wondered where they all came from
and where they would go.

Had Our Bench Refinished
Been planning on Resurfacing Our Bench before winter set in.
Finally found a local firm to do job.
Can’t wait for all of you at Thanksgiving
To see the great job they did.
Not easy to find reputable firm at reasonable prices.

Coming and going,
The sun does its job.
Another Morning
On The Pier
And Yet Is Is Like No Other
As Clint Eastwood would say
“You Make My Day”
Impossible to express my thanks
for the gift of the bench
from a loving family.

Light Shines In Different Ways
Today challenged my sense of proportion.
Rising sun was beautiful
Falling upon Veterans’ old ferry tracks away to war.
But the other side of the Pier
Demonstrated the Creative side of man(or woman)

Getting colder each morning
So pictures taken from inside car.
Today struck by Sun focusing on TZ Bridge
And the changing colors of trees
As Fall begins to change everything.

Listening With Eyes Shut
Because I may conduct Listening workshops for Blind People ( Visions)
I sat on our Bench
with Eyes Open and with Eyes Shut.
Seeing the Clouds and the changing Mountain colors
Was very different
when looking at them- with my eyes SHUT!
I wondered how I will describe them to someone
Blind, sitting on the bench with me or Listening in a workshop..

By now you may be tired of Clouds.
If you are, come see them in person.
I’ll save you a seat

Alone On The Pier- Nature-ly
As I drove out on the Pier
I wasn’t surprised to see No One.
Rain downpour tends to influence walkers-
And limits my outdoor picture talking.
Even opening car window was a dampening experience
Bit it didn’t stop me from”

This One Is Beyond Words

From Sunrise To Low Tide To Moon Set
Somewhere in the bible we find a line that says
“God’s wonders to perform”
He did all 3 this morning.
I first drove to the end of the Pier because Sunrise demanded it.
Next sitting on the bench, low tide reminded me of the history of veterans leaving the Pier
Finally, as driving off ,the moon demanded I stop and take a picture.
I can never thank you all enough for

He certainly has Blessed me with FAMILY

On The Pier 1st
There is always a first time
ON THE PIER
to see people doing “different” things
especially in a Kayak.
The question is
How did they get there
Or How will they get out.

2 In The Morning, 1 In The Afternoon
No matter which
I love the differences.
At each sitting,
I think of you all,
Send some Text messages
And Give thanks for the gift of

What A Difference a Takeoff Makes
What was different about today
Was a group of over 50 Canadian Geese
The scene was overcast and quiet
Until over 50 Canadian Geese
Decided to ALL TAKE OFF at the same time.

Almost burned myself with my very hot Latte!!
But It Was Like

A Wonderful Morning At The Gazebo
It started fast and ended delightfully.
Road to the Pier was covered with High tide water
So enjoyed self at the Gazebo near the Creamery.
Once home received a call from Carol
Asking me if I had my I Phone
(Cell phone to those of you who don’t have one)
Jumped in my car,
went to pickup my I Phone at the Creamery
where the woman who found it in the Gazebo
had left it for me-after calling Carol-
Who had been the last person I had called!!
A Wonderful Morning
At The Gazebo
And Yet Hopefully Not Another One.

I Didn’t Get Out Of The Car
Besides that Our Bench was wet,
there wasn’t much to see.
Only Two people walking on the Pier (7:30AM).
Guess the usual Exercisers
Passed on the Opportunity to Enjoy Mother Nature.
I will almost never pass on the opportunity to have

Clouds Cleared In An Instance
Driving to Our Bench
Early on a cloudy morning
I wondered what”pictures” I’d see.
The 1st view was only different
Because rarely is the world completely framed with solid clouds.
But when I turned to sit down,
the 2nd view suddenly brightened the whole world!
Some loving, thoughtful person
Had focused a Shining Light on

A Shadow Of What To Expect
It is only mid September
and the Sun has shifted its rays.
8:30 this morning taught me a lesson.
Even though the Sun Is bright’
It is time to keep a coat in the car
To weather the temperature of the breeze.

September 11 On The Pier
Today was a special day:
Sept 11 On The Pier!
Driving out facing a Sunrise
Was dramatic
Viewing the Handiwork Of some thoughtless person
Was Disappointing
Seeing The Area around Our Bench
completely cleaned up by the Town
Was Thankful
Looking at the totally BROWN river water
Was a reminder of what a Storm Can do

The River is Not The Same
My daily trips to the Pier
Have not returned to their usual peace.
I have to consider different places
To think of you all and give Thanks to God.
Yet no matter where I am On The Pier,
there is always something different to look at-
Seagulls walking on the ground,
4 person kayaks gliding across the surface,
People of all shapes and sizes exercising,

Irene closed the Pier
Before and After The Muffin
What is so wonderful about Our Bench
Is the scenery can change from moment to moment.
From peace and serenity to assembled crowd
To isolated dictator.
The usual human walkers might wonder
Why I sit there day after day, alone-
While they exercise ,with friends or alone
I wonder why they tour the length of the Pier
In constant conversation or doing vigorous exercise
Or listening or talking into a headset.
Then God did make us all different!
I am so thankful his family thought to provided Our Bench

I Wonder How Long It Will Be Here
I am always amazed at the driftwood
Which loves to stop in front of Our Bench.
Where does it come from?
Was it a piece of a boat?
If so, what happened to the people?
How far has it traveled?
What do you think?
I hope it doesn’t stay long.
I’ll let you know.

Two Different Kinds Drifted On to The Pier
Today was distinctly different.
Early morning experience
Left me wondering why
a Blue object violated our space.
Lunch time was totally different
A wonderful drifter helped me thoroughly enjoy
The warmth of sunshine and fellowship
Another day on the Pier
And I wish it to be the same tomorrow

Peaceful and Beautiful

So there is nothing to distract our attention
Except the smallest birds, unseen,
chirping from the tree overhead.

2 Completely Different Views From Our Bench

It was not only a pleasure to talk to both,
but also colorful

6:15 AM On The Pier

The Greatest Gift’s) Of All
Can not thank you enough
The Still Of The Morning
Hardly a ripple in the water,
It is so peaceful
In contrast to today’s headlines.
So silent and still-
The bugs surround me in such a distracting way
That I have to wave them off
AS I sit and write.
Adding to the silence,
A kayak going by
Causes slight waves to break against the shore
Off to morning Mass-
A different kind of silent peace-

Memorial Day Parade
Peter deLisser – Commander, Piermont Post 7462

Pre Memorial Day and Midnight
Piermont Pier is the center of Attraction
Because of the thousands of Troops
that left from the end to go to War.
Last night was the Watch Fires.
Today I had the privilege of
Throwing Flower bouquets into the Hudson
From the end of the Pier
And watch them Float away
As so many veterans had.
For those of us who God chose to have return
The ceremony is particularly meaningful.

Beautiful Things I Often Might Miss
Sitting on Our Bench
Makes it difficult NOT to miss the big things.
Today I happened to glance
At something I might dismiss.
Somehow it cried out to have its picture taken.
It was in sharp contrast
To the usual beautiful, big things.

Sundown On The Pier
What wonderful scenery and change of pace.
Left bycle riding at 5 PM to Nyack on railroad tracks,
Back on the River road to Piermont
and later, after 7 miles, arrived at Our Bench.
Leisurely picture taking, then to end of Pier
To enjoy the Red,White and Blue.
Stopped on Piermont Avenue to sit and enjoy an ice cream
and watch the “locals” go by.
Back up Ritie street and finished with a hot shower.
Sounds like something I shall do more often
Now that weather has changed.

Few Different Items Today – At 7:30 AM
I started with trying to recognize the many types of Fish In The Hudson
Then was surprised at the size and weight of Drift Wood in front of Our Bench
And finally the height of the Sun so early in the Morning fighting off the Clouds.

Almost nothing can keep me off Our Bench because

Glad I Went In A Down Pour
I wondered what would be different
at 7:30 AM on a Sunday.
Needless to say,
View from Our Bench to the Bridge
Was not Clear.
The real surprise was a whole new family
That had probably moved away from Our Bench
When they heard me coming.
As usual when we combine heavy rain with high tide
The road way in and out is a challenge.
Another Morning
On The Pier
That I Am Glad I Didn’t Miss

Wondering About Life
Today was a marvelous morning On Our Bench
I was struck by the contrast in the tree next to the bench-
Big branches growing new leaves, with the end of each dead wood
What looked like static water became alive
when the only visible rock kept disappearing from sight
when covered by waves
And the variety of detail next to bench
was compelling.

I love Our Bench On The Pier.
It is a daily reminder of the Love
Of each member for all the other members.

Small Things Suddenly Become Big
When I sat down on Our Bench,
My Immediate response was
Not much new to take a picture of.
General overcast, very few people walking, same old pictures.
Then a noticed a small piece of drift wood on top of a close rock.
Took pictures of both sides
and in bewilderment, wondered how this sophisticated piece of wood
ended up as drift wood- from some sunken boat??
Then suddenly I heard the roar of waves breaking in front of our bench.
What had been a totally silently unnoticed water front demanded my attention.
I realized a few moments before I had seen a motorboat crossing the river.
Its effect demanded my attention.
Wondering how long it would take to return to silent unnoticed water
Was not long, as the picture indicates

A bright sunny day
Brought me to the end of the Pier
After a 7 mile exercise

To create such a family gathering.
What a loving act for David

18 Degrees and Heavy Wind
At 7:30 this morning
I could hardly open the car door
To get out and take a picture.
The power of the wind suggested
Sitting on Our Bench might wait for another day.
The pictures I took were at the end of the Pier.
The American Flag will indicate the wind’s strength.
However I have no explanation for the Sun already risen .
It was so bright it was hard to look at it
To take the picture.
That’s what I love about The Pier.
I can take the same pictures over and over
But they never look the same

Can’t wait for tomorrow – at 16 degrees.

Sitting On Our Bench at 55 Degrees
Today was a different experience- due to weather.
Had to be careful not to hit people walking on the Pier
Before I could sit on our Bench- with a Latte.

No wonder the Pier has such a powerful pull.
Today I couldn’t wait to get out there
Because seeing the sunrise from a distance
Demanded my presence.
It wasn’t till I turned around to go sit on the Bench
That the contrast between Floating Ice and distant Mountain top
literally had me hold my breath.

View From Our Bench Is Always Different
For Those not familiar with The Pier
Looking at this picture
Taken while sitting on Our Bench
Might convince you that
The Whole River was frozen.
Driving out to sit on Our Bench
Painted a different picture
In fact the ONLY place the River was frozen
Was on the North side of the Pier.
Looking South toward New York
The River flowed freely,
Completely void of Ice.

8:30 AM Sunrise
The Picture is Good.
However, your imagination will help!
What struck me was the Sun
Reflecting off both the water and the Frozen river ice ,
Almost challenging me to walk to Irvington.
Another Breath Taking
Morning On The Pier
One I am happy to Share
With a Loving family.

Sitting On Our Bench- For A Few Seconds
I sat on our bench for a few seconds-
1st second was to use my wonderful I phone
To discover the Temperature was 19*.
The Second second (that’s called an illiteration-I think)
Was to take this picture.
I expected to get a wonderful picture of the Hudson Ice and the Tappan Zee Bridge
What I got was the reflection of Barren trees behind me
And a reminder of the Veterans who left the Pier years and years ago.

Thank You , Thank You, Thank You

Surprisingly, The Pier Was Open
Piermont’s Roads are always open,
Regardless of Snow.
But surprised to see the Pier Open for traffic.
Can you imagine what the road out to Our Bench
Looks like after and during a snow storm.
B e a u t i f u l !!
Yet for all the snow
They had to Pile it Up somewhere.

Monday’s Visitors to Our Bench
It is always a loving experience
To share our bench we special people
Who are part of this special gift
To me On my ? ? birthday.

The Bridge Didn’t Exist
Because of the fog,
I knew the view would be uniquely different.
That’s what is fun about the drive out-
Looking for how it will be different

Starting The New Year On Our Bench
What better way to start the New Year
Than On Our Bench On The Pier.
Somehow I know there would be a great beginning.
Bright sun, no wind, was a pleasure to be outside-
For a short time.
Floating pieces of snowy ice
Contrasted with a different view of the Bridge.
Both were artistic.
Floating snowy ice, with bright sun,
Were upfront and personal.
I felt like it would be joyous
To be out there floating with them.
The distant bridge was very subtle.
A reflection of it on the water in front
Might only be appreciated by a person
Who had the privilege of seeing daily.
Its variations, even though the Bridge never changes

Merry Christmas from Our Bench On Christmas Morning- at 25* Plus Wind And Surf
I stepped out of the car
JUST LONG enough to take 2 pictures.
The wind and 25 degrees PLUS spray from rough sea
Plus the Invasion from migrating Canadians
Reminded me I had wrapping to do at home.
God Bless you all
And Merry Christmas.

Sunrise of Different Kinds
This morning’s sunrise hit me long before I reached Our Bench.
I couldn’t resist the Sunrise over the Creek.
I can’t resist finding the time to visit our Bench daily.
I know some scenery will be dramatically different
But what never changes is my thanks for your loving gift.
The second view I couldn’t resist adding
As a way of saying “Merry Christmas to All ! ! !

A Different Morning On The Pier
Needless to say,I enjoy the view from our bench -from a different perspective.
New positioning allows me to take in other views- and other objects
There are certainly fewer people – or none at all-walking their dogs
Yet I am still drawn their every morning
For the love of the different views
And the thoughts of my loving family

Macro and Micro
I have had requests for Macro pictures of the Pier
Other than just from Our Bench.
And possibly Micro pictures of smaller items that are striking
Today’s Macro picture was of the Hallowed grounds
I get to see on the way off the Pier.
The Micro picture touches my heart to know it is
Available for you to see any time you are here.

On The Way To The Pier
On the way to the Pier this morning
I almost got hit from behind.
Because I was so Struck by a view ,
Before I even reached the entrance to the Pier,
I immediately stopped the car-
Without considering the car behind me.
The Creek has its own beauty
Including a breathtaking reflection.
Add to it the changing colors of the leaves
and I may take that route each day-

Nyack In The Morning
Contrast always makes the morning different.
Each day the colors change
As leaves turn and blow away.
Kind of like waiting for the weather to change
So I’ll sit on Our Bench- from my car.
But not today.
Warm enough to finish my Latte and Cranbury nut muffin
while sitting on the bench and sending TEXT messages
To loving family members.

Beautiful Day On The Pier- For Everyone
This afternoon I went out on the Pier on a bicycle ride.
Couldn’t stop and sit on Our Bench
As 2 fisherman were sitting in front of it-
Fishing.
As I started out on the Pier,
Looked like high tide might block me.
It didn’t but the mass of people
Made it difficult to avoid kids on bikes,
Lovers holding hands,,
Total families strung across the road.
Can’t blame them as it was one of those Fall days
We know are limited in Number.
Needless to say,
Besides your gift of the Bench,
Our Bicycle allows me to keep in good shape
While enjoying God’s gift of Nature.
Both the Bike and the Bench
Continue to remind me of how blest I am
To have the family we have .
Can’t wait to see you all on Thanksgiving

Driving To The Pier- On Veterans’ day
I was struck today- being Veteran’s day
With the Peace and Quiet and Beauty
while driving to the Pier
In sharp contrast to when I Landed In Korea,
getting off a Troop ship,
walking through children and mothers,
sleeping/ living on the streets.
As a result of driving to the Pier today
I somehow understand better
Why so many combat veterans
Still feel guilty
Because they made it home-
And many of their fellow veterans never did.

Windiest Day On Our Bench
I had a hard time holding steady to take pictures.
Today is the windiest day I can remember
Given approaching Veterans’ day
I wanted to do 2 things at once.
Wanted to give you an idea of how strong the wind is
While , at same time, reflecting on Veterans’ day this Thursday.
At the same time, there was a challenge to sit on Our Bench
As waves hitting on the Pier’s bank
Cast a spray of water that required pictures be taken quickly.

From The Pier To Home
At 6:30 this morning the wind was a dominating force.
Getting out of the car to sit on Our Bench was not a consideration.
Opening the car window to take a picture was sufficient challenge.
As a result the main street in Piermont
Showed non-existent activity.
When the weather was so dominant ,
it was a privilege to arrive home.

I Overcame The 1st Obstacle But Not The 2nd
I am usually Willing to Risk getting to Our Bench.
Today I overcame the 1st obstacle
But as I continued
I decided to avoid the 2nd obstacle.
If I had tried the 2nd obstacle,
I might have been stranded
And denied myself the pleasure
Of writing from OUR Bench later Today
Or even Tomorrow

Definition of a Bridge- and Life
At first glance this morning ,from OUR BENCH,
I was struck by the Tappan Zee BRIDGE.
It dominated the view maybe because
I am looking at changes in my life.
Webster’s dictionary defines “Bridge” as
“a connecting, transitional or intermediate route, phase etc”.
But while looking at the bridge today,
I was struck by the fact that
Cars and Trucks were going in both directions.
I had always considered a bridge
To be going in the direction I wanted to go.
I suddenly wondered whether a Bridge
Could go in the different directions.
Thank you for Our Bench.
Until today, I enjoyed its Peace and Quiet and Joy.
Today it added the challenge Of deciding which way to go
On the Bridge of Life.
Stay Tuned on.

Very Early Sunday Morning On The Pier
The Bridge Lights are still on,
Tarrytown still on a night schedule,
The Sun still not up,
One sole person walking,
And I’m finishing a coffee and raison Bagel
On a very special bench
A beautiful way to start a Sunday
In which Carolyn and I will attend 8 AM Mass,
I’ll sing at 10:30 Mass
and I get to deliver the Eucharist
To people homebound for physical reasons.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all

Peace and Quiet
One of those special mornings
When nothing is moving,
Water and clouds blend together
And surprisingly, the middle of the bridge disappears
While the two sides are barely visible.
An Occassional dog interrupts the scene
Obviously smelling my Cranbury Nut muffin
And Extra hot latte.
I do not know of any present ever given
That can be enjoyed as much ,
And as often,
As Our Bench.
Although not physically,
Everyone of you is here !!

which is a good thing when riding on the road.
The second star is actually a Moon setting at sunset
which we wouldn’t know except

Getting To Our Bench Is A Challenge-at High Tide

A Big Smile In Midst Of Wind and Rain
I didn’t dare get out of the car today
And I am glad I didn’t.
The view of Our Bench was very different- and beautiful
Except for a few green weeds.

Surprised at The Gathering
Guess changing weather has influenced the food supply.
A small piece of muffin thrown in the water
Attracted largest crowd I’ve seen.
I was startled by influx
From all angles and distances.
Tends to intrude different thoughts
About the usual serenity of sunshine and blue water.

And the Blue Sky
Almost Blends with the Green Water
And a lone White Seagull stands out

Even Ducks Take To Dry Land
A continuing rain suggested I stay in my car.
First, I stopped behind our Bench
But even opening the window provided
A Sprinkling of rain drops on my lap.
Wondering how different it might might,
I drove to the end of the Pier
And as I circled to start back off the Pier,
I was struck by Ducks taking to dry land.
They didn’t even move
when I opened the window
and stuck out my camera.
I am glad- for your sake, and mine

Something of Awe To Start The Day

That even Twins communicate differently.
Maybe there will be triplets by tomorrow.

We Are All Like A Blue Flower
Some mornings I hesitate to send a picture
because it may be very much like one I have sent before.
This morning was one of those
Until I noticed on top of a green plant,
in sharp contrast to a rock near our bench,
A distinctly Blue flower.
I searched the rest of the Pier with my eyes
And to my surprise and delight,
there was no other blue flower in sight
That flower has been in my mind ever since.
It is a wonderful example of why
accepting Responsibility for our communications is so important.
Like that Blue Flower on the Pier
Everyone of us is uniquely beautiful- and different.

Being In The Shade Makes a Difference
This morning the tide was so high

Then by chance I noticed a shady spot
Which added another dimension.

A Different View From The Pier
While turning around on my bike
At the end of the Pier
I was struck by a contrast in colors.
One bright color entertained thoughts
Of boats that now docked there routinely
for tours of the Hudson
Other darker colors in the background
were appropriate when used by people
Leaving the Pier for distant countries.
There are never complex thoughts lacking
When On The Pier in Piermont.

Given The State Of The Economy
Everyone assembles when food is being handout out.
What was surprising
Was there was no one in sight
When I threw the muffin anyway.
Occasionally nice to have this kind of company

I’ll miss my morning visits with friends near Our Bench

The Beautiful Scene Was A Spiritual Experience
While sitting On Our Bench
The scene itself was already dramatic.
As I absorbed it, hard to remember one more breathtaking.
However, I suddenly had to focus on
The cool breeze that was enveloping my total body – and my mind.
The Holy Spirit was expecting their transformation.
An Unforgettable Morning

The Calm Before the Storm
As I sit writing this
there is thunder and lightning and torrential downpour.
It is sharp contrast to sitting on Our bench at 6:45 AM.
However, in one way it is similar.
While viewing the calm on the Bench this morning,
a car drove by With Radio blaring music.
I prefer the thunder and lightning and torrential downpour.

Tiny Bird Makes The Morning
I thought the miracle of the day
Would be the Water’s surface
Reflecting the Clouds dynamics
Until a bird demanded Attention.
It landed in the branches of the tree
Next to the bench
And was ALMOST the size of one tree leaf.
No matter how big we are,
we can make a difference in the surroundings.

The Greatest Gift Of All
2 large Gulls sit in front of me
I assume waiting for me to give the morning muffin.
Their Black and White bodies are in sharp contrast
To the Green heads of 2 ducks just behind them.
Also the Green moss covering the very small stones
Scattered along the shore
Look like an artist painted them.
The River’s surface, running in two opposite directions,
Is a miracle beyond understanding.
The very green mountains to my left are in sharp contrast
To the uncolored mountains to my right.
Somehow their unique colors
Depend on how the Sun chooses to fall on them.
Suddenly the green leaves of the tree
To my left wave in my face
Just as two ducks break the water’s surface
As they get up enough speed to take off.
And the greatest gift of all
Is to have a Bench, On the Pier,
From which each morning I can contemplate
The really important things of Life.

Motionless
It is unusual when everything
On the Pier is motionless.
No wind!
Clouds don’t move,
Water surface doesn’t ripple,
Tree branches and leaves don’t move.
Occasional Seagull penetrates the sky
A Quacking Duck violates the silence
2 Bicycle riders momentarily disrupt the peace
But the Motionless still dominates
It quickly overcomes the periodic interruptions.
It continually reminds me of the Gift

How much better can it get
Then a single Seagull

Our Bench Is A Standout!
This morning was one of those days
When Our Bench Stands out
Midst the rest of the scenery.
Not a person on the Pier!
Not A Bird In sight.
Just a WONDERFUL gift.
As Clint Eastwood use to say,
It Makes My Day!

By the different shades of water
From Our Bench to the Bridge
But quickly realized
That the clouds made the view

Big Hole In A Tree
Always a challenge to decide
What view to send you from The Pier.
I didn’t realize when I took this picture That there was a big hole in the tree.
Sometimes what we focus on isn’t what we get Particularly when you are as experienced As I am as a photographer.
At least it indicates that I get

Hope you enjoy this one time picture!

6:47 AM On The Pier
It is like no other morning
Because usual things are different
4 Seagulls patiently sit waiting for food in sharp contrast with buried driftwood.
I wonder why driftwood doesn’t drift away.
I wonder if the Seagulls know it is me.
I wonder what I will write about.
Each experience is a Wonder in itself.
And you all are wonderful ! !
Thanks
A wondering Father!
And Grandfather
Thank God

Another Morning Like No Other.
A combination of
Under Foot-
Seagulls feeding on a Canzone Muffin
Overhead-
Jet Plane Cloud Trails

To look each morning at God’s creations
And be thankful for a loving family
Who provided the greatest gift of all.

Serenity Is Wonderful!
Serenity Is Wonderful
It looks like nothing is happening
But In reality
Everything is moving.
A single piece of driftwood
Gives away the truth.
As if it plays a game with me,
It actually moves when It thinks
I am are not looking.
Also, what looks like a totally still water surface Is really one gigantic wave Which has eliminated its whitecaps So it thinks I’ll think it is not moving.
It is like an agreed upon deception by Mother nature.
Even the Seagulls just sit on the rocks.
Not one of them flies or floats!
But I am too quick for them.
I know what they are doing.
They just won’t know I saw them
And shared their beauty with you.
Serenity Is Wonderful!
Thank you!

will only not be like any other.
Because wind was strong and cool,
I Watched from the car
The white caps and the reflections of the Sun.
Turned around at the end of the Pier
And trip back was interrupted by the other view Which always cause me deep emotion.
My every experience On Our Bench
Changes my whole attitude toward the day.
Thanks to Renee’s artistic bent
We have pictures to prove it was

Peace and Quiet
This morning is special
No Distractions.
Just Peace and Quiet

What Is Different Today?
Chirping and Kayaks!
To add to the ever changing beauty of God’s creation.
Two people casually row by, beyond the rocks.
Usually something that new,
Being the first time
After the long winter,
Might dominate the scene.
Much to my surprise I discovered(heard) a lone bird (sparrow?) Hiding behind a branch of sole tree by Our Bench.
Hard to find at first, even though chirping pierced the air.
Once I saw him/her I could then focus on the Kayaks Leisurely paddling out to sea.
Even the health bar and root beer
Did not distract me from

On Our Bench

Starting The Day On Our Bench
Another Morning
On The Pier
And It Is Like No Other
Weather continues to get warmer
And I look forward to when I’ll Be able
To write while sitting on the Pier
And Linger to enjoy the changing scenery.
When its warm, there is no distraction
Of trying to stay warm.
This morning I could focus on
The sound of trains leaving Tarrytown
And the talk of bikers going by
And watching the birds flapping their wings To shed the cold water And Wonder at sun reflecting off the Water.
No man could be as fortunate as I
To have a bench where people stop
By to share their Love.
Thank You

Welcome to the end of the pier
Storms hopefully over
Clear and sunny today
Looking forward to Spring

Waiting For The Sun To Come Up
Another Morning
On The Pier
And Yet It Is Like No Other
Because this morning
I was sitting on Our Bench
BEFORE the Sun rose.
Fascinating to watch the Seagulls and Canadian Geese.
Whereever the Canadian Geese moved in,
The Seagulls fled possibly because
There were more Geese than Gulls.
The Geese moved quietly, in a group,
Into the area the Seagulls had been in.
And the Seagulls scretched as they moved on.
I wonder if the Pending Sunrise
Had anything to do with each groups actions?
I know I was effected by it
As I kept wishing the Sun would rise faster.
Laughable to think I could move the Sun faster Becausee I was waiting for it break the horizon So I could send a picture of the Breaking Sunrise.
Me at 5’7″ thinking I could effect the Sun Which was slightly larger and more influential!
But that is the effect on me
When I am so thankful for Our Bench
Given me by my Loving Family.

What A Contrast
What A Contrast between
When it is high tide and low tide.
I’m sitting on Our Bench
Almost spellbound by the beauty of the scene Which today includes a lone fisherman Standing on the rocks probably getting food for his family.
In Contrast are the old wooden pillars
Jutting up out of the water,
Remnants of old railroad tracts
That carried Solders off to War.
From Peace To War
From High tide to Low tide
From Nature’s beauty to driftwood from Flood winds For Me from a loving family An Immeasurable Gift Each day of

Somebody Had To Do It!
The View From Our Bench this morning
Required, called out for,
Someone to record the spectacular scene.
Somebody had to do it
And I sacrificed my time to witness and record it!
And having become a skilled photographer It was easy and beautiful.
Enough said!
Push the Button an see

Celebrating St Patrick’s Day- On The Pier
This morning I treated myself
To an extra Hot Latté
While sitting on Our Bench
Enjoying the View.
Driftwood of all sizes, shapes and directions Seemed to dominate the scene- On Land and sea.
Eventually I’ll have to take a Rake
To the surrounding areas
And count on the Town Of Piermont
To get rid of the big stuff.

Back To Normal, Almost
Spring Is Here
Sitting on Our Bench
With Sun and Wind and Seagulls
- And one Intruder!
Nice to feel the Breeze
And know it can only get warmer
- From no on.
Breeze in my face
Says It is cool enough to go home
But the screeching of the Seagulls
Says “stay and keep us company”.
Today it is hard to believe
The Pier was closed for 3 days
Due to heavy winds and heavy flooding
Today Sitting on Our Bench
Is back to normal, Almost!

A Different View of The River,
From a different place,
at a different Time of the day.
I couldn’t resist using my new skills
- as a photographer.

Sitting On Our Bench
As a result of Winter storms,
the view is very different-
The storm seems to gather things
In its wake.

Snow and Clouds
My first attempt to get on the Pier
Was faulted by High Tide.
WATER all over the road
The second attempt was worth it.
I wanted to give you a view of the Snow.
Instead Clouds demanded attention

How Fortunate ! !
Each morning I read The paper,
Then off to the Pier And Our Bench.
The contrast between the headlines of death, murder, And the view from Our Bench are dramatic.
The clarity of the view this morning
Was breath taking and the colors
So dramatic that Life takes on a joy
That elevates the Spirit and
Makes the day worth looking forward to.

Sunday Morning Bagels and Seagulls
Sunday morning it is buy Bagels
And Stop at Our Bench on the way home.
Since we are now in Lent
I unselfishly decided to
Share by 2nd bagel with the Seagulls-
If they were around.
Sunny and warm today
I sat on Our Bench briefly
To share my Lenten commitment.
I’m glad there are 5 more Weekends before Easter I may become an expert on Sharing and Seagulls

Today It Is Everything
From Our Bench
To The Clouds Over the Bridge
Everything is in focus.
At first glance the clouds seemed to dominate.
However, once I took my eyes off them
Everything else jumped into sight.
I am always struck by the expanse of water that includes the relics from the past That transported troops to their boats, The different surfaces of water, From Calm waves inland To rougher waves outside the rocks and man-made barriers To the dominating frame of the Bridge.
Today it is everything that makes this

What A Bright Smile!
What a Bright Smile
In the middle of a light snow storm
and a surrounding fog.
Each visit of the day
Our bench itself
Immediately Captures my attention,
Not only because I know it is Ours
But because of the beauty of its design and color.
I would hope that to Passerbys
My smile of love and satisfaction
Matches the Glow of Our Bench
Even in the midst of snow and fog

Another View Of The Pier
Every morning Before I go To The Pier
I have another view of it.
How fortunate can one man be
To start each day
Listening To the Music I sing with the Choir
And Witnessing God’s wonders’
At the same time.
I am off to the Pier for
Another Morning

Surprise Surprise
Surprise was a surprise for me-
Sitting On Our Bench- On Valentine’s day.
Also,My expertise in photography!
Notice the different formats of ice.
I love the donut-in sharp contrast to the Dock, Both framed by the rocks on shore.
What a wonderful way to start the day.

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY

This is what I am blessed to look at
In anticipation of arriving at Our Bench

Back To Normal, Almost
Seagulls are back,
The River is unfrozen
The Geese are Gone.
It is 3:00PM
An Unusual time for me to be on the Pier
It is an escape for me today.
The sad things people say and do to each other Have been on my mind most of the day.
My hope coming here at this time
Is the beauty of Nature
Will lift my spirits.
My hope has been fulfilled.
All you have to do to know why
Is to look at the picture.
An Afternoon On The Pier
Learning to be a photographer
Has natural, accidental consequences.
I couldn’t resist showing you creativeness When I didn’t realize how creative I could be.
Couldn’t have been any better
If I had Planned this Photo.

A Different View
One of the wonderful Challenges of
Another Morning On The Pier
Is what view to take.
This morning I had to choose from two.
I choose the one with a Different View.
This one provokes memories for me
Rather than marveling at the continuous wonders of Nature.
The memories are of a loving family
Who once, as the Piermont Townies say,
Lived “Up On The Hill”.
Upon request I can send you the other View From behind Our Bench.
Either one is of

Sculptures Of A Different Kind
Last night Carolyn and I Enjoyed dinner at the Sculpture Dining Room Of The Metropolitan Museum Of Art.
As we ate, we could ses ancient Roman/Greek sculptures One even dated back to AD 166 !!
This morning I witnessed sculptures
Of a different Kind,
Made On the Hudson River,TODAY !

Our Bench Has Character
When The Sun Glistens On It.
Purposely went out on Pier early
To enjoy the effect of the Sunrise.
So Glad I did!
I hope you will enjoy the Smile too.
It is a reflection of the Pure Joy
I feel when enjoying the view
And thinking of you all.

This Picture Says it ALL,

What A Difference A Day Makes!
A Picture Is Worth a 1000 words
Especially when the temperature is dramatic.
The length of this poem
Actually portrays
The effect of the weather
On my young body.
Hopefully tomorrow will make a difference In the temperature When I’ll more leisurely describe
Another Morning
On The Pier
Yet Like No Other

Nobody Saw Me !!
At 45 miles an hour
I raced OFF the Pier.
I always wanted to that
But today was perfect.
A combination of freezing weather and wind Left the Pier only to you and me.
NOT A LIVING,BREATHING Soul.
And as Usual
Another Morning
On The Pier
And Yet It Was Like No Other
I’ll let the picture speak for itself.
As you’ve heard me say too often
55% of the meaning In Every Conversation Is In The Picture!

The Color Yellow
Only dominant colors today
Are a blanketing White snow
And our Yellow Bench.
No Birds, No People
High tide Hides the Rocks
The color Yellow also dominated yesterday.
It was the Yellow Cabs
Hurddling up 6th Avenue
Outnumbering normal cars 2 to 1
There were throngs of normal New Yorkers
Crossing against the lights
Dressed in wide varieties of clothing
Cutting each other off at each corner
What was very different was
Instead of Sitting on Our bench
I Walked a total of 26 New York City Blocks!!
Thank You
What A Sharp Contrast At 8:30 AM
No Wind
Bright Sun
Motionless water surface
The Bridge shining in the Sun
No geese or seagulls
People must be already at work
What a sharp contrast.
I sit in the car
Soaking in God’s wonders
And in 20 minutes from now
I’ll be sitting in a 3 hour class at ATS Soaking in the history of the New Testament.
Then, at noon, its off to New York City
Then back to the Spar at 7 PM.
How fortunate am I To have a day like this And the best part Is to start it all with you Overlooking Our Bench
Another Morning Like No Other
And you know where!
Thank you.

Absolutely Like No Other!
Driving out to Our Bench
Big waves breaking from the New York side Send high sprays that land on my car
Once parked behind Our Bench
Wind howls and shakes the car.
Yet on the TZ Bridge side of Pier
Water is almost totally calm
And Bridge almost hidden in storm clouds With over 150 Canadian Geese Calming floating in front of Our Bench.
Now the rain begins to add
To the miracle of
Another Morning On The Pier
And Absolutely Like No Other.

It Is 21* Plus Windy
On One side Of Pier
The Seagulls huddle.
On the Other side,
Canadian Geese band together.
Wonder how weather contributes to that.
Got out to take picture
And felt sure camera would freeze.
NOT a single person on the Pier
Except me
And all of YOU
Another Morning
On The Pier
And Yet It Is Like No Other

I Am Speechless!
I started to Write what I Saw,
The Beauty of God’s World
from Our Bench
And then remembered I had my camera.
I am Speechless

It Is Breathtaking In The Wind
I Tried to get out of the car
But the Wind wouldn’t let me.
The picture was beautiful.
I couldn’t wait to get out of the car.
The wind was crashing water
Against the Line Of Rocks
Plus sending it high in the air.
My enthusiasm was momentarily stopped !
The car began to rock.
But it is still the high point of my day.
Seagulls, white caps, roar of the wind,
Sun beaming in the window
And Down at the end of the Pier
The Stars and Stripes are fully stretched out!
What a picture of Freedom
It is Breathtaking In The Wind
The picture says it all.
Another morning on the pier!
On Our Bench- For David
My assigned task was
To take a Picture of the Frozen Ice
- With My I Phone
And Email it to Him.
I’m waiting for the Result.
While I am Waiting, I’m confused.
The picture shows solid, frozen ice
But it doesn’t show
The swiftly moving ice
Out beyond the rocks
Moving toward Tarrytown and points South.
Just another example of
Another Morning
On The Pier
And Yet It Is Like No Other
Thanks David !
My Hands Are Frozen!
